FOIA 22-16972-F requested materials related to briefing notes, transcripts, readouts, photographs, and any other records mentioning or related to the July 30, 2009, meeting between President Obama, Vice President Biden, Henry Louis Gates Jr., and James Crowley. This meeting has been referred to as the “Beer Summit.”

This FOIA primarily contains photographs, planning materials, and correspondence related to the meeting between President Obama, Henry Louis Gates Jr., and James Crowley on July 30, 2009. Photographs include the President and Vice President meeting with the Gates and Crowley families in the Oval Office and Rose Garden.

The WHORM Subject File was compiled by the White House Office of Records Management and consists of a series of documents assigned a letter/number combination and filed in a subject category. A complete listing of the subject categories, including a detailed description of each category, is available on the National Archives Catalog.

Staff Member Office Files are maintained at the folder level by staff members within their individual offices and document all levels of administration activity.  Staff Member Office Files are processed at the folder level, that is, individual documents are not selected and removed from a folder for processing. While this method maintains folder integrity, it frequently results in the incidental processing of documents that are not wholly responsive to the subject area.  

White House Communications Agency records are processed at the folder/videotape level. While this method maintains folder/videotape integrity, it frequently results in the incidental processing of videotapes that are not wholly responsive to the subject area.
