In July 2015, President Obama received this gift from Mulatu Teshome Wirtu during his trip to Ethiopia. This was the first visit by a sitting American president to Ethiopia, a U.S. security ally. The sterling silver shield in traditional Ethiopian style has filigree designs. Crossed behind the shield are Ethiopian style weapons, a spear and shotel (curved sword). The back of the shield is engraved "From H.E. Dr. Mulatu Teshome Wirtu President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to H.E. Mr. Barack Obama President of the United States of America July 2015.”

While visiting, President Barack Obama received this figurine from Zahi Hawass, Egyptologist and former Egyptian Minister of Antiquities. Hawass gave the President a personal tour of the sites of ancient Egypt in June 2009. This ancient Egyptian wood carved figurine of Tutankhamun is standing on papyrus. Tutankhamun, was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who was the last of his royal family to rule during the end of the 18th dynasty during the New Kingdom of Egyptian history.

President Barack Obama received this gift from Hersey Kyoto, Ambassador of the Republic of Palau, and Johnson Toribiong, former President of the Republic of Palau. This is a traditional carved wooden Palauan storyboard or itabori in the shape of a sailboat. It is carved on both sides with a base engraved with "President Barack Obama" and the bottom is engraved with "The Legend of Meduu Ribtal" or The Breadfruit Story. This itabori was crafted by the Tebang Wood Carving Shop in September 2009.
